Shield Restoration is an independent, locally owned restoration contractor based in Erie, Pennsylvania. When you call the number on this site at three in the morning, the person who picks up is a dispatcher who knows the difference between Asbury Road and Buffalo Road, and the crew that shows up is the crew that works here every day.
That sounds like a small distinction until you've been on the other end of a national restoration line at 3am, describing your flooded basement to someone three states away who then pages whichever contractor is available. Locally owned means the accountability doesn't move.
We handle water, fire and smoke, mold, biohazard, and hoarding, residential and commercial, from the first hour of mitigation through the final coat of paint. One company for the whole job is deliberate: the gap between the mitigation contractor and the rebuild contractor is where most restoration jobs go wrong.
Find the source, stabilise the property and the paperwork, put it back, and leave the owner knowing how to stop it happening again. Every job, that order.
Four commitments we don't move on
A person always answers
No answering service, no voicemail, no "someone will call you back in the morning." Emergencies don't keep business hours and neither does the phone.
The scope is written first
You get the plan and the price in writing before equipment goes down, and you hear about any change to it before the work happens rather than on the invoice.
Readings, not guesses
Equipment stays until moisture meters say the structure is dry, not until a set number of days has passed. You get the daily logs, and so does your adjuster.
We'll talk you out of it
If a claim isn't worth filing, if testing won't change the scope, or if a spill is small enough for you to handle yourself, we say so. It costs us a job and earns the next five.
Certified for everything we sell
Restoration is a licensed trade with real standards behind it, and plenty of companies work outside them. Ours don't.
Who shows up
Every technician is background-checked, uniformed, and trained before they work unsupervised in someone's home. Three roles show up on a typical job.
The dispatcher
Takes the call, tells you how to make the property safe, and assigns the nearest crew. Your first and best source of information in the first ten minutes.
The lead technician
Runs the assessment, writes the scope, sets the drying plan, and takes the daily readings. Your single point of contact for the whole loss.
The rebuild carpenter
Puts back what came out — drywall, flooring, trim, paint — so nothing is left half-finished when the equipment goes.
